The JakeWear Acquisition Story.

Hello and welcome to our first blog of 2026.

Daybreak Enterprises was founded in the fall of 2022 out of a simple passion: to design and print my own clothing.

After a few early designs made their way into the world, something clicked — I realized I could create custom apparel for others, too. That spark of an idea grew quickly into a business, and Daybreak has been full steam ahead ever since.

Over the past 12–16 months, Daybreak has had the incredible honor of acquiring JakeWear Shirts from legendary Cleveland artist Sandy Shoe.

Founded in 1994, JakeWear has spent three decades celebrating Cleveland sports, Rock & Roll, the Great Lakes, and classic Northeast Ohio nostalgia. Sandy built a beautiful brand and a loyal community around it.

When we met at a Westside Flea event in the summer of 2024, we instantly connected. Not long after, she offered me the opportunity to carry on her legacy. I can’t overstate how meaningful that was. At the time, Daybreak was struggling to grow — and JakeWear gave us the push we needed. It was a perfect match, and I’ll forever be grateful to Sandy for trusting me with something so special.

Our promise: JakeWear’s core identity isn’t changing.

We’re simply building on its strong foundation by:

Adding the JakeWear collection to our Daybreak website and Etsy store.

Expanding product offerings (mugs, hats, koozies, tote bags, and much more).

Growing partnerships with local retailers.

We’ll keep you posted on every new chapter in this exciting journey.

This past summer was one of the most challenging seasons we’ve faced. Extreme heat made live events tough, and we stepped away from two retail spaces — The Rift Shop and Uniquely Made for You.

In late July, during one especially hot event, I nearly suffered heat stroke. Lying in bed afterward, I asked myself the hard questions:

Is this worth it?

Am I growing this business?

Am I sacrificing too much?

The answer was, and still is, yes.

Anything worth building — a business, a relationship, your faith, your health — requires perseverance. And I believe in this dream.

But the biggest reason we keep going is all of you. Seeing familiar faces at our events, seeing people wearing our shirts in the wild, hearing your kind words, and feeling your support is what fuels Daybreak. We have customers demanding new designs from us, because they have bought every single one we have! This is what pushes us to keep going, even when things are really hard. Every smile, every conversation, every high five, these are the things that remind us we matter, that we mean a lot to people.

As we move into the new year we are filled with gratitude and renewed energy. This is just the beginning of a new chapter — one that blends the spirit of Daybreak with the legacy of JakeWear.

Thank you for being part of our story.

Have a safe and prosperous new year. I look forward to seeing familiar faces in 2026.
